Are you thinking about starting your own online business, but feel you don’t have enough time to invest?
The other day I was having a really interesting conversation with a friend of mine. We talked about reaching our full potential and realising our dreams etc. Needless to say I slipped into the conversation the fact that if he ever should decide to start his own online business, he could realise many of those dreams. Easily.
“But I don’t have the time”, he said, shrugging his shoulders in disbelief.
“Sure you do” was my immediate reply, and proceeded to lay out a workable time plan, just to prove my point. And then I just realised I sounded like a total jerk. You know the kind I’m talking about, the preaching kind.
That was definitely not my intention, and I know full well that time is a major factor in our decision making. I guess what I wanted to say was that careful planning and a healthy prioritisation can pave the way for just about anything you want.
Things that take too long are best avoided, and projects that are too big are put to the side to be done “another day”. Overwhelm is a huge deterrent, and I dare say most of us reject extra work or projects, even life changing ones, simply due to lack of time. If only the day had more than 24 hours eh…
Is that what’s stopping you as well, not having enough time? Well, not anymore. Don’t let that be a barrier in your life ever again. Trust me, you have more time than you think, chances are you just don’t see it yet. Yes, even if you’re a parent, and a home owner, and someone with many hobbies who leads a very hectic life. I guarantee it!
Whatever happend to all that time?
Even though time is so important to us when we decide what to do (or not), the truth is we are very good at wasting it. Being busy is such a relative term, and holds only value within your own framework. What do I mean by that?
If you’re my age ( in your 40’s ) chances are you’ve probably gone from simply looking after yourself, to sharing your life with someone special, to getting a home together and finally, the real time thief, having kids. And through all these stages you were probably busy, one way or another.
How is that possible? You sure as hell don’t have more time available now than you did before?
Simply put, you’ve learned to manage your time better.
Here’s the plan
If planning and prioritisation has helped you to be more effective, and get more things done, let’s continue down that path.
Whenever we have defined something we really want or need, it’s only a matter of time before we form a plan on how to get it. If you have your sights set on becoming an online entrepreneur, not having enough time should never be the reason why you don’t follow that inner voice.
Decide on how much time you can spare each day, each week. With as little as 5-7 hours a week you can be up and running in a matter of months. Does that sound doable? Don’t believe me? Check it out yourself, and click the link below.
“How do you eat an elephant? Piece by piece”
Even though you may lead a busy life, setting aside less than 7 hours a week to completely change your life is a very small sacrifice to make. Imagine what you could accomplish with 15? It’s up to you, but just remember, this doesn’t have to be a balls to the wall type thing, where you spend 50-60 hours a week, even quitting your day job. No. This could be a very gradual thing that happens little at a time.
And before you know it you’re running a successful business full time, probably wondering why you never did it sooner. Well, just remind yourself then, it was because you didn’t have enough time. Or so you thought…
