About six years ago I stumbled across something called the Law of Attraction. This guy I met at an Export/Import seminar just wouldn’t stop talking about it, and you could tell he was really excited. Apparently he had watched a film called “the Secret”, and was now eager to share his wisdom with everyone.
I have to say, it sounded pretty damn awesome, but very far out, almost crazy. I was then of the opinion that if something sounded too good to be true, it usually was. So I just smiled at him, and decided to ignore him completely. After all, I too was pretty enlightened, in my own humble opinion, and there was no way in hell I would fall prey to that sort of nonsense. No way!
Anyhow, as life continued it’s predictable path into oblivion, where the most exciting opportunities seemed to be destined only for the lucky few, I ended up crossing paths with this mystical concept once again. Only this time around I decided it was time to have a more open mind about things I was skeptical about, so I took an interest and started to actually absorb more and more of it.
Since that day, nothing has quite been the same. Honestly. To say that quality of life has improved would be a gross understatement. Perhaps you have heard of the Law of Attraction but don’t quite understand just what it entails.
To put it simply, the Law of Attraction is our thoughts’ ability to manifest our reality- whether positive or negative. If you think it, you can create it. It is a force constantly in motion, ebbing and flowing with the thought patterns of our ever-changing brains.
It is always going on behind the scenes whether we realize it or not. Our minds are harnessing this force and making it work for us, or against us. It’s an energy that can’t tell good from bad, and only goes where your mind tells it to go.
If we, as humans, accept the power of our minds, we can channel it any way we desire. Many times, we let ourselves accept that we are controlled by outside forces, but where indeed we cannot always control what goes on around us, we can control what happens within us.
That is where our power lies.
How it Works
Let’s use an example. Have you ever been in public and you are in a horrible mood? You’re feeling negative, irritable and it seems like everyone else around you is just as bad. Maybe the cashier is rude to you, or someone cuts you off in traffic.
It just makes the mood worse, right?
Reverse scenario, if you go into public and you are high-spirited and positive, do you notice how much better of a reaction you get from others?
This is the Law of Attraction. When you put out negative or positive energy, you are receiving it back to you. The more you feed one or the other, the more the same energy comes to you.
Therefore, it is so important to pay attention to our thoughts and intentions, as we subconsciously pave the road to our success or failure. Training our brains to utilize this ability is our best chance at living a happier, more fulfilling life.
How to Use It
Once you fully gain the concept of what this is, how powerful it is, and how to manipulate it to work in your favor, you can begin seeing amazing success in your life.
Having a victim mentality about the world being out to get you is counterproductive, as we are the rulers of our destiny. If you have a perception that you are insignificant and allow yourself to be at the mercy of the energies around you, it will crush your spirits. You must visualize the opposite.
Once you take hold of the belief that you are the one in charge, you can begin to see the fruits of your labors. Integrating this conscious understanding into your daily life will present itself to you in ways you couldn’t have imagined.
When applying the Law of Attraction, there are a few things to consider:
- Ask the Universe for what you want in a positive way. Instead of saying, “Please don’t let this happen,” phrase it without the adverse undertone. If we speak of what we wish to happen instead, we are creating that outcome. Whereas, if we are saying what we don’t want, we are allowing our fear to be the tour guide.
- Don’t shout out a wish and then worry for the remainder of the day that things may not end up as you wanted. Just visualize that it will all turn out, and get a clear picture in your head of what it is you want. You have voiced your intention and now you need to leave greater forces to work their magic.
- It is not always easy to prevent our minds from worrying. But if we counteract any anxieties with our reassurance, we can rewire our brains to think this way on a subconscious level.
- As powerful as visualisation is, it must be paired with the corresponding feeling. This is probably the most important part in re-programming your mind. Whatever you want to attract, you must be able to feel. If you’re visualising success in your career, how would that success make you feel, how would your environment react to you? Make it real.
As you can see, the way to allow the Law of Attraction to weave into your life regularly is to permanently change your thinking process. The more you train yourself, the easier it will be. Much like anything else we do in life.
Once you learn a task or a method, soon it becomes second nature to you. The Law of Attraction is no exception.
Where to Apply This
You can attract what you wish for every aspect of your life. There are no set rules or limitations to what you can manifest. A good precautionary is to not let your ego take over at any point. What you are attracting should be in the best interest of yourself and those around you.
If you are wanting financial, romantic or career success, allow the Law of Attraction to work for you. The idea is to visualize the outcome you want and maintain this vision paired with the corresponding feeling until it becomes your reality.
Of course, this does not mean you will become a millionaire overnight or find the love of your life in a day. As anything else, what comes into fruition can take some time, especially if your desires are drastically different from where you are. And it’s only after your mind starts to think in different patterns that you will actively start taking action on things that used to be outside your comfort zone, or simply beyond your line of vision.
Every new path is paved from a starting point. If you continue to imagine the success you would like, you will continue to take steps in that direction. Don’t be discouraged if things don’t happen right away. This can derail you from your goals.
Remain joyous, grateful, and optimistic. Visualize and feel your success and remember the wise words of Buddha:
“All that we are is the result of what we have thought.”
